Will compressing lower my video quality?
Compresssor scales videos down to the resolution you pick (for example 4K → Full HD) and re-encodes them with your phone's hardware encoder. HDR, colour, and audio are preserved. At the same resolution the picture stays visually the same while the file gets much smaller.
Are my original videos deleted?
Only if you turn that on, and only after the compressed copy is safely in your library, matches the original's length, and is genuinely smaller — and after you confirm the system's deletion prompt. On iOS deleted originals sit in "Recently Deleted" for 30 days; on Android they go to the trash.
Does it keep the date, location, and filename?
Yes. The compressed copy keeps the capture date, GPS location, filename, and album of the original.
Can it run in the background?
On Android, yes — a run keeps going while you use other apps, with a progress notification. On iOS the system pauses any app that leaves the screen, so keep Compresssor open during a run; the Live Activity shows progress and tells you if it pauses.
What does Compresssor Pro unlock?
A one-time purchase that lets you compress your whole library at once, use automatic mode, and the "compress everything" widget. The free version compresses one video at a time. Bought it already on another device? Open Settings → Restore purchase.
A video was skipped — why?
If a video is already efficient enough that re-encoding wouldn't make it smaller, Compresssor keeps the original untouched rather than replace it with something no smaller.
